BUDO ! ! !

You know, Takamatsu Sensei only used to talk about the most important things. He would never answer questions clearly for a student who was not yet prepared, because of the confusion it might cause later. He used to teach very quickly. There was no time to think; it was just one technique after another That's how I was able to pick up the essence efficiently, and that's how I teach now. What I want you to do is just take it as it is. Don't think too much. If you get involved with thinking about it, the whole thing gets lost or loses its purity. Don't think during practice—do! The more you think, the further from the truth of budo you get: budo is not an academic subject! - Masaaki Hatsumi -

If The Spirit is Right

“If the spirit is right – anywhere can be a dojo.” Some people believe that you learn the most from small classes. The fact is, if you don’t understand or practise what you have supposedly been taught, it doesn’t matter if there are 100 people or 10. ”Budo is not an intellectual subject. Just thinking and talking about it won’t make you better” – Soke.
